Our Process

Health & nutritional benefits of
frozen fruit and vegetables

Locked-in nutrients

Frozen fruit and vegetables often contain higher levels of vitamin C and antioxidants compared to fresh produce that’s been stored for several days.

Harvested at peak ripeness

Produce is picked when it’s at its nutritional best, then frozen quickly to prevent nutrient loss during transport and storage.

Minimal processing

Our frozen produce is simply washed, chopped and frozen. No additives. No preservatives. Just whole foods, frozen.

Fibre stays intact

Fibre levels remain stable and comparable to fresh produce.

Makes healthy eating easier

Pre-washed and pre-prepped, frozen fruit and vege make it easier to add more plants to your meals, making it easier to better overall nutrition.

Frozen done properly

At Fruzio, we believe nutritious food should be easy to access, easy to use, and easy to love. That’s why we specialise in premium frozen fruit and vegetables, picked at peak ripeness and frozen fast to lock in goodness.

Fresh produce often gets the spotlight, but frozen fruit and vege deserve way more credit. Because they’re harvested at their nutritional peak and flash-frozen within hours, frozen fruits and vegetables can be just as nutritious, and often more nutritious, than fresh produce that’s travelled long distances and sat in storage for days.

The result? Food that’s packed with nutrients, available year-round, easier on your budget, and better for reducing food waste.

Why frozen wins

When it comes to preserving nutrients, the freezer does the heavy lifting. Fresh fruit and vegetables can lose up to 40% of their vitamin C after just three days in the fridge. Frozen produce, on the other hand, retains up to 90% of its vitamins and minerals - even after months in the freezer.

And flavour? No compromise there. Freezing locks in taste and texture, making frozen fruit perfect for smoothies, desserts and baking, and frozen vegetables ideal for soups, stir-fries and quick midweek meals.

Affordable, everyday goodness

Better value for money

Frozen fruit and vegetables are often more cost-effective as they reduce food waste, bypass high out-of-season costs, and have no prep costs - saving you time and money!

Less food waste

With a freezer life of up to 12 months, frozen produce won’t get forgotten to spoil on the kitchen bench or in the fridge.

Stable year-round pricing

Frozen produce isn’t affected by seasonal price spikes, unlike fresh fruit and vegetables.

Supporting local, sourcing global

Supporting the local industry is important to us, it helps sustain regional communities and strengthens our domestic food supply.

However, not all fruit can be grown in New Zealand at scale. Crops like mango and pineapple are best sourced from international regions where they naturally thrive. In addition, much of New Zealand’s fruit harvest is sold fresh to remain commercially viable, which limits the volume available for freezing.

To ensure consistent quality and availability year-round, we source fruit and vegetables from trusted international growing regions that specialise in specific crops. By combining the best of local and global supply, we’re able to provide Kiwi families with reliable, high-quality fruit without compromise.

Sourcing from these regions means:

  • Optimal growing conditions
  • Peak ripeness at harvest
  • Larger scale production
  • Greater year-round consistency

Our partner selection process

We don’t buy from just anyone.

We carefully select every growing and processing partner based on strict quality, food safety and ethical standards. Many of our international and local partners have worked with us for over 20 years. These are relationships built on transparency, accountability and shared values.

Every supplier is:

  • Rigorously audited against our quality and food safety requirements
  • Regularly reviewed to ensure compliance with international certifications
  • Assessed for ethical, environmental and operational standards
